Visit the adventure town of Moab and the nearby Arches and Canyonlands National Park in winter. It’s the best time to enjoy your favorite recreation activities and the stunning beauty of snow-capped sandstone arches without the crowds.
Try your favorite recreation activities of hiking, biking and 4X4 wheel driving in Moab or Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. For more fun in the snow, try skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling in the nearby Manti La Sal National Forest. The sharp contrast of snow against the red sandstone along with the expansive views of canyons, arches and the 12,000 feet La Sal Mountains is visually breathtaking.

Arches National Park
Arches National Park features over 2,000 natural sandstone arches. Try a short hike to Balanced Rock, Windows and Park Avenue or a longer hike exploring Devils Garden. Hike to the famous Delicate Arch where you can view the snow covered La Sal Mountains looking through the red sandstone arch.
Canyonlands National Park
The Canyonlands National Park’s Island in the Sky mesa overlooks breathtaking sandstone cliffs, the Green and Colorado rivers and rugged deep canyons.
Arches & Canyonlands National Parks in Winter
Arches and Canyonlands are both open in winter. The views are spectacular in the winter and exploring the trails is a great adventure without the crowds. Be prepared for colder weather and snow. You’ll want to bring winter boots for hiking. The campgrounds are open but the ground may be covered in snow.

A recent post on the Moab blog addresses Moab in winter too.
There are other trip opportunites: repelling off of Corona Arch with Moab Desert Adventures, Climbing with Red River Adventures, Hot air ballooning, Mule trail rides, educational ecology/geology tours of Arches or Canyonlands National Parks with Plateau Restoration, Scenic Flights with Redtail Aviation. Retrofit these activities in to your personal Moab visit in winter too. https://visitmoabutah.wordpress.com/2010/11/05/pre-and-post-travel-to-moab-from-winter-salt-lake-city-conferences/
